Along with worship, local vendors, lunch catered by Fazoli’s, and fellowship, we are honored to have Susan Early, author of When I Saw God’s Hand: A True Story, share a powerful message of healing. 2. Period Poverty - What?
Mary Marty will lead a conversation about “period poverty” in our world today. She’s not referring to a lack of punctuation marks and an increase in run-on sentences. The phrase “period poverty” today, usually refers to the inability to afford and access menstrual products, safe sanitation facilities, and proper menstrual health education.
We’ll talk about how “period poverty” impacts girls and women here and around the world and how this is being addressed by schools, churches, not-for-profit organizations – nationally and internationally. Participants will have the opportunity to build an UMCOR menstrual kit (disposable pads and tampons) and/or a Midwest Mission menstrual kit (reuseable pads).
3. Renewal Through Yoga
Join Lillian Thalken, a Doctor of Physical Therapy, in a chair yoga session focused on upper and lower body mobility, stretching, and breathing mindfulness. This is for all ages and levels of balance. Alternatives for those at a falls risk will be given during the session.
