Gary serves as the Director of Traditional Music and the Chancel Choir for Avon UMC. In this role he directs the Chancel Choir, organizes the song leaders and special music for the AUMC worship services, and is part of the Worship Ministry Branch. Gary has a passion for serving God and praising Him through music, while being a part of our community of Christian brothers and sisters.

Music has been a life-long passion for Gary. He has been engaged in music throughout his life, serving as a teacher, director, performer, composer-arranger, and participant for schools, churches and community groups. During his professional career, Gary held music and leadership positions in education, grades K through post-graduate.

Gary earned bachelor and master degrees from Butler University and a doctorate from Ball State University in education and music. He retired from Anderson University as a Professor Emeritus in Education. Gary and his wife, Susan, enjoy living in Avon, where they like doing projects at home, spending time with family & friends, and bicycling.
