When God formed the first human being and placed him in the Garden of Eden, God said, “It is not good that the human is alone” (Genesis 2:18a CEB). We were created by God for relationships. We prioritize living life and growing in faith in deepening relationships with others through small groups and/or ministry teams.

What are small group?
Small groups exist as micro versions of Avon UMC. Most small groups consist of about 6 to 18 people gathering together at least once per month either in the Avon UMC building, at a home, in a restaurant, or somewhere else. Group/class members and attendees encounter the transformational grace of God as they experience and offer refreshing hospitality, develop and deepen relationships with fellow pilgrims on the faith journey of following Jesus, honor and care for one another, grow in love for God and one another, and seek to love local and/or global neighbors through serving and giving.

Participating in a short-term class, group, or study is a great way to meet others and begin your journey with us as we follow Jesus together.
Short-term opportunities include:
– Simple Group (3 sessions during 3 or 4 of the seasons of the year)
– Membership Class (a 1-session class offered in the spring & fall)
– Lenten Studies during the winter/spring
– The Annual All-Church Worship & Small Group Series in August and/or September
– What Christians Believe (3 sessions for baptism preparation…offered when needed)
