Your Faith Journey 153

Sunday (10/31)
The Your Faith Journey daily devotional for this week includes scripture from the New Testament document known as “Hebrews.” You are encouraged to read part of Psalm 104 to begin your devotional time each day to prepare your heart, mind, body, and soul to worship the Lord and center your life in our Creator.

Monday (11/1)
Read Psalm 104:1-9.

Watch the Bible Project video entitled “Overview: Hebrews” using the link below or type “Bible Project Hebrews” into the search bar on YouTube”: www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fNWTZZwgbs

Read Hebrews 1:1-2:4. Which word, phrase, or verse is God using to speak to you today from what you read? Let that word, phrase, or verse roll around in your mind throughout the day.

Pray in response to our God who most clearly revealed himself in and through Jesus.

Tuesday (11/2)
Read Psalm 104:10-23. The “he” the psalmist is referring to in these verses is God.

Read Hebrews 3:1-6. Seek to “fix your thoughts on Jesus” throughout today (3:1). How do you see the Lord building the people of the church into a house, God’s house?

Pray about the labor and work God has for you for today. Pray that not matter what happens you’ll be able to “fix your thoughts on Jesus” so that you see, hear, and encounter him through the people, creatures of the earth, nature, and situations of this day.

Wednesday (11/3)
Read Psalm 104:24-30.

Read Hebrews 5:7-10. Which word, phrase, or verse is God using to speak to you today from what you read? Meditate on that verse, phrase, or word throughout the day.

Pray through your day, praying about all you will do or have already done, as well as for the people you’ll encounter or the ones you encountered. Thank God for providing for your basic needs, including food and water.

Thursday (11/4)
Read Psalm 104:31-34. What song will you sing or say to the Lord today as an act of praise?

Read Hebrews 10:1-10. “The law” referred to is the commandments of God shared through Moses in the first five books of the Old Testament of the Bible.

Pray rejoicing in the Lord, thanking him for your life, your family, your friends, our church, and the many blessings he has given us. Then pray Jesus’ words from Hebrews 10:9 repeatedly throughout the day, “Here I am, I have come to do your will, Lord.”

Friday (11/5)
Read Psalm 104:1-9.

Read Hebrews 11, the entire chapter. If you are unfamiliar with the people and stories shared in this chapter, you may find it helpful to read the books of Genesis, Exodus, and Joshua in the Old Testament sometime in the near future. Which word, phrase, or verse is God using to speak to you today from what you read in Hebrews 11? Let that word, phrase, or verse roll around in your mind throughout the day.

Pray, thanking God for the men and women of faith who have come before us, including those we lost to physical death this past year. Because of our faith in Jesus, we will be re-united with those we lost when we arrive in heaven. Praise be to our Lord, the resurrection and the life (John 11:25)!

Saturday (11/6)
Observe the Sabbath. How are you going to intentionally observe the sabbath by worshiping God, resting, and enjoying some time of recreation today or on Sunday? For most people it does not happen if it is not scheduled. You need to designate the time to do it if you want it to be a priority.

Read Psalm 104, the entire chapter.

Solitude & Silence. You’re encouraged to find a place where you can be alone for about thirty minutes. During your time of solitude & silence with God, you may want to lay down, sit on a comfortable chair, couch, or swing, or go for a walk. During the solitude silently listen for the internal whisper of the Holy Spirit. For many believers the Holy Spirit does not speak in an audible voice. Instead, the Spirit will place a thought, phrase, verse from scripture, song, image, person, or idea in your heart and mind. Notice the physical sounds you hear and the way your body feels during this time of silence. Try to shut out the thoughts of to-do lists, plans for the day, etc. Simply be with God. You may find it helpful to read Psalm 104 before or during your Solitude & Silence. After the thirty minutes, then read the verses listed below from Hebrews 12.

Read Hebrews 12:1-11. How are you experiencing the discipline of our heavenly Father? Where is your attention and focus today? Are you focusing on Jesus?

Pray using the ACTS acronym as a guide:
Adoration (praise the Lord)
Confession
Thanksgiving
Supplication (share your needs & the needs of others)

You are strongly encouraged to observe the sabbath either today or tomorrow as a time to worship the Lord, rest, reflect, and enjoy recreation. To learn more about the sabbath, read Genesis 1:1-2:3, Exodus 20:8-11, Exodus 31:13, Leviticus 16:31, Leviticus 23:3, and Deuteronomy 5:12-15. The questions below can be used to help with some time of reflection:

Where did you see, hear, or experience love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, or self-control this past week? That was God and the fruit of the Holy Spirit at work in your life or within the lives of others (Galatians 5:22-23a).

Who needs to hear about your ‘God moment’ sometime in the coming days?
